• Deerpark Christmas Party

    Tomorrow will see the Deerpark Christmas Party event take place in our school hall. Every student will receive full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and they will be served by the teachers. Festive clothing is advised as we enter into the spirit of Christmas. Plenty of music and spot prizes available on the day.

  • Open Night 

    Deerpark CBS would like to invite the parents and students from 5th and 6th classes to avail of the opportunity to visit our school. You will be able to meet the teachers, experience the wide range of subjects available on our curriculum and view our excellent facilities in a variety of subject areas.     The Board of Management of Deerpark CBS is delighted to announce that Mr Aaron Wolfe has been appointed as deputy principal. Aaron comes to the school with many years of experience and we wish him all the best as he takes up his new position.

    A large crowd of parents, teachers and students were present on the night to listen to a number of teachers praise their students for their academic achievements and efforts, their sporting success, membership of the Meitheal team, their leadership, their care and concern for others, their attendance and their use of the Irish language.

    Deerpark CBS was delighted to welcome back former student Aaron Baron to its end of year awards event. Aaron completed his Leaving Certificate in 2015 achieving 515 points and received one of the prestigious JP McManus academic scholarships. Read more.

    First-year Business Studies students receiving their certificates from Junior Achievement after a successful few weeks participating in the Dragon’s Den competition. Students were tasked with coming up with a new idea and how it could be turned into a successful business in terms of marketing, advertising and of course, making money!

    The school is getting ready for the curtain call for this year’s Cork Youth DramaFest in the school hall. DramaFest is a week-long drama festival in which pupils of the school participate, alongside pupils from other schools in Cork.

  • When We

    Were Kings

    Our school has the distinction of being one of but a handful to have won both the Dr Harty Cup and the Corn Uí Mhuirí in the same year. We are having a gala dinner on 16 May to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this success. At the launch for the dinner pictured above are Kevin Barry (Principal),  with 1975 mentors George Allan, Billy Morgan, Seamus Keating and Terry Howard, captain of the Dr Harty team in 1975.

  • Anti-Bullying 


    As part of our school’s adoption of the DES’ Anti-Bullying Procedures a series of workshops were held to ensure students realised the damage bullying causes. The final part of this initiative saw a whole school assembly addressed by Colette and Anthony Wolfe whose daughter Leanne took her own life following sustained bullying from some of her peers and who have been involved in awareness programmes since featuring on Would You Believe and Secret Millionaire.

Welcome to Deerpark CBS

Deerpark CBS is the oldest school on the southside of Cork city. The school was founded in 1828 at Sullivan’s Quay by the Christian Brothers. The secondary school section of the ‘Quay’ moved to Deerpark in 1968 and continues to serve the inner city, Greenmount, Ballyphehane, The Lough, Glasheen and Togher areas of Cork.

Our school has a superb team of teaching and support staff. It also has a sense of duty and care for each other and for our students that is unique and which strives to ensure the best education and social outcomes for the students in our care. This website (some parts of which are still under construction) gives a sense of our school but if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
