Awards Night 2016

As the school year drew to a close the school community of Deerpark CBS gathered for its annual awards night. The school has a long academic tradition dating back to 1828 and the night was a joyful and enthusiastic celebration of the efforts and achievements of its current students who maintain the fine traditions of the school.
A large crowd of parents, teachers and students were present on the night to listen to a number of teachers praise their students for their academic achievements and efforts, their sporting success, membership of the Meitheal team, their leadership, their care and concern for others, their attendance and their use of the Irish language. There was also a special presentation on the night to students who participated on the school’s Tomar Trust programme. This is an innovative programme where students experience learning in one of the local further education colleges or training centres so as to motivate and help them focus on their careers after school. On the night the school was delighted to have representatives from St John’s College, Cork College of Commerce and Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa join with the school community in praising these students for their participation in the programme.
School principal, Kevin Barry, addressed those gathered and paid tribute to the students, their parents and their teachers for their work, commitment and support throughout the year. He said the night’s celebration was testimony to the learning and care that is so evident and so much a part of Deerpark CBS.
