As a Christian Brothers School, Deerpark CBS has been providing education in a Catholic setting to generations of Cork boys since 1828. Changing times and culture means that the school continues to seek new ways in which to communicate the Christian message to today’s generation of youth. A new initiative introduced by the school’s chaplain, Ann-Marie Nolan, involves inviting the Cork City NET (national evangelisation team) to come and work in Deerpark C.B.S with transition-years for a five week programme. The evangelisation team is made up of young people from various countries who volunteer to spread the Gospel of Jesus through a personal witness of faith. The group are young and enthusiastic and engage pupils in faith-based discussions and games. The students have been very receptive of the team and of the message they proclaim and eagerly look forward to participating in the programme. Cork City NET are currently running a youth group every Friday from 7pm – 9pm at the Legion of Mary Hall, Shandon Street and all are welcome to attend. Whilst Deerpark CBS is a Catholic school it welcomes students of all faiths and of none, who wish to be educated in a caring Catholic environment where the dignity of the person is at the centre of the activities of the school.
