Make A Book 2013

Students from second-year recently participated in this year’s JCSP “Make a book” exhibition. The cross-curricular project enabled students to create a “book” using skills and ideas from English, art, ICT, and woodwork.

The subject of this year’s book was “MUAY THAI BOXING” an activity that all students were very enthusiastic about! The idea for the book originated in literacy class. On Thursday and Friday 11th/12th April the second-year students, accompanied by their teachers Ms Farrell and Mr Weighton, attended the display in City Hall. Both teachers and students enjoyed the trip to the exhibition.

A  big well done to all involved!

JCSP 2012/2013 – A Taste of the Activities

This year, our students participated in a number of JCSP activities to help them in their studies.

Make a Book Exhibition in Cork City Hall. Second-year students show great skill at model making, writing and computing. Martial arts and boxing was the highly acclaimed project this year. Previously projects on rapping and the Elysian tower received huge praise in this national exhibition.

First, second and third year students participated in the Drop Everything And Read initiative. Reading for fun is the idea here.

Second-year hillwalking and fishing at the Gap of Dunloe, Killarney. Students caught wild brown trout and enjoyed the stunning views while taking part in a day-long geography and science lesson.

Second-year students take on the challenge of reading a million words. They try to follow in the footsteps of students who became word millionaires in 2008.
